IT MEANS IT'S NOT DEAD… like one of those dated "pre-packaged" games. There's a lot going on in non-console gaming right now, and most of the terms used to describe what's going on are pretty loaded terms; "free", "online", "casual", "social networks", "mid-casual", "meta-casual"…so we've come up with our own term to describe what we do. Our games touch on all the above elements but we aren't confined to just one category.
When our games launch its most like a TV pilot, as opposed to a blockbuster movie. We don't sequel, instead we have the ability to add, react, improve, pick up socially relevant content and live for years and years. That also means we can take more risks because budgets are lower and we can change content after a game goes live.
Being live also refers to two core Nexon game elements: MMO (users playing with other live people, online, at any time) and RPG (having a persistent, living and evolving character).
Now "MMORPG" doesn't mean its all orcs and night elves, actually the opposite. On the art side we're looking to attract new users via a fresh visual sensibility. Illustration, animation and graphic design are among our main points of inspiration.
And lastly, since our games are all based on playing with real people the experience is never the same twice. So do you want to work for a live gaming company or a dead one?
